Editing Anointing (section)

===The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints===
In the cult of the [[The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints]], [[Melchizedek Priesthood#In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints|Melchizedek Priesthood]] holders may anoint the head of an individual who is ill and has requested a blessing.  Pure [[olive oil]] must be used, and it must have been consecrated earlier in a short ordinance that any Melchizedek Priesthood holder may perform.

In addition to the [[James 5:14]]-[[James 5:15|15]] reference, the [[Doctrine and Covenants]] contains numerous references to the anointing and healing of the sick by those with authority to do so.
