'''Minuscule 246''' (in the [[Biblical manuscript#Gregory-Aland|Gregory-Aland]] numbering), ε 460 ([[Biblical manuscript#Von Soden|Soden]]), is a [[Greek language|Greek]] [[Lower case|minuscule]] [[manuscript]] of the [[New Testament]], on paper. [[Palaeography|Palaeographically]] it had been assigned to the 14th century.<sup>[1]</sup> 

== Description ==

The codex contains a complete text of the four [[Gospel]]s on 189 paper leaves (size 24.6 cm by 17.5 cm),<sup>[1]</sup> with two [[Lacuna (manuscript)|lacunae]] (Matt. 12:41-13:55; John 17:24-18:20).<sup>[2]</sup> Written in one column per page, 26 lines per page.<sup>[1]</sup> It contains list of κεφαλαια, lectionary markings, marginal various readings.<sup>[3]</sup> [[Synaxarion]] and [[Menologion]] were added by a later hand.<sup>[2]</sup>

== Text ==

The Greek text of the codex is a representative of the [[Byzantine text-type]]. [[Kurt Aland|Aland]] placed it in [[Categories of New Testament manuscripts#Category V|Category V]].<sup>[4]</sup> It belongs to the textual family [[Family Kr|K<sup>r</sup>]].<<sup>[5]</sup>

== History ==

Formerly the manuscript was held at [[Mount Athos|Athos]] peninsula. It was brought to Moscow, by the monk Arsenius, on the suggestion of the [[Patriarch Nikon]], in the reign of [[Alexis of Russia|Alexei Mikhailovich Romanov]] (1645-1676). The manuscript was collated by [[Christian Frederick Matthaei|C. F. Matthaei]].<sup>[6]</sup> 

The manuscript is currently housed at the [[State Historical Museum]] (V. 19, S. 274) at [[Moscow]].<sup>[1]</sup>
