'''Minuscule 256''' (in the [[Biblical manuscript#Gregory-Aland|Gregory-Aland]] numbering), α<sup>216</sup> ([[Biblical manuscript#Von Soden|Soden]]), is a [[Greek language|Greek]]-[[Armenian language|Armenian]] [[Lower case|minuscule]] [[manuscript]] of the [[New Testament]], on parchment. [[Palaeography|Palaeographically]] it had been assigned to the 11th century.<sup>[1]</sup> 

== Description ==

The codex contains the text of the [[Acts of the Apostles]], Epistles, and Book of Revelation, on 323 parchment leaves (28.9 by 22.7 cm), with [[Lacuna (manuscript)|lacunae]].<sup>[1]</sup> Written in two columns per page, 36 lines per page. It contains prolegomena, Joournays of Paul, lists of κεφαλαια, lectionary equipment, subscriptions, and [[Stichometry|στιχοι]].<sup>[2]</sup>

== Text ==

The Greek text of the codex is a representative of the [[Alexandrian text-type]] in Pauline epistles, and the [[Byzantine text-type|Byzantine]] elsewhere.<sup>[3]</sup> 

Ending of the [[Epistle to the Romans]] has the order of verses: 16:23; 16:25-27; 16:24 (as in codices [[Codex Porphyrianus|P]] [[Minuscule 33|33]] [[Minuscule 104|104]] [[Minuscule 263|263]] [[Minuscule 365|365]] [[Minuscule 436|436]] [[Minuscule 459|459]] 1319 1573 1852 arm).

== History ==

The manuscript once belonged to Archbishop of Tarsus (1153-1198).<sup>[2]</sup> The manuscript was collated by [[Christian Frederick Matthaei|C. F. Matthaei]] and Hoskier.<sup>[4]</sup> 

The manuscript is currently housed at the [[Bibliothèque nationale de France]] (Armen. 27 (9)) at [[Paris]].<sup>[1]</sup>
