'''Minuscule 43''' (in the [[Biblical manuscript#Gregory-Aland|Gregory-Aland]] numbering), α 270 and ε 107 ([[Biblical manuscript#Von Soden|Von Soden]]), is a [[Greek language|Greek]] [[Lower case|minuscule]] [[manuscript]] of the [[New Testament]], on parchment leaves (20.5 by 15 cm). [[Paleography|Paleographically]] it had been assigned to the 11th century.<sup>[1]</sup> [[Caspar René Gregory|Gregory]] suggested the 12th century.<sup>[2]</sup> 

== Description ==

It was split in two volumes. The first volume has Gospels on 199 leaves with size 20.6 cm by 16 cm. The second volume containing Acts and Epistles on 189 leaves with size 21.2 cm by 15.2 cm.<sup>[1]</sup> The codex contains entire of the [[New Testament]], except last its book [[Book of Revelation|Rev]]. It has also some [[Lacuna (manuscripts)|lacunae]]. It contains [[Epistula ad Carpianum]], Eusebian tables, prolegomena, tables of κεφαλαια, κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, Ammonian Sections (Mark 234), [[Eusebian Canons]], (lectionary markings and αναγνωσεις added by a later hand), subscriptions, στιχοι (James and Paul) (in Pauline epistles).<sup>[3]</sup><sup>[2]</sup> 

== Text ==

The Greek text of the codex is a representative of the [[Byzantine text-type]] with some allien readings. [[Kurt Aland|Aland]] did not place it in any of his [[Categories of New Testament manuscripts|Categories]]. 

In 1 John 5:6 it has textual variant δι' ὕδατος καὶ πνεύματος (''through water and spirit'') together with the manuscripts [[Minuscule 241|241]], [[Minuscule 463|463]], 945, 1241, 1831, 1877*, 1891.<sup>[4]</sup><sup>[a]</sup>

== History ==

Possibly it was written in [[Ephesus]]. It was given by P. de Berzi in 1661 to the Oratory of San Maglorian.<sup>[3]</sup> It was examined by [[Denis Amelote|Amelotte]], [[Richard Simon|Simon]], [[Johann Martin Augustin Scholz|Scholz]].<sup>[2]</sup> 

It is currently housed in at the [[Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal]] (8409. 8410), one of the branches of the [[Bibliothèque nationale de France]], at [[Paris]].<sup>[1]</sup>
