• 1 Man who is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.

• 1 He comes forth like a flower and fades away, he flees just like as a shadow and does not continue.

• 1 And do You open Your eyes upon such a one, and bring me into judgment with Yourself?

• 1 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? No one!

• 1 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with You; You have appointed his limitations, so that he cannot go beyond it;

• 1 turn away from him, that he may rest, until he finishes his day like a hired man.

• 1 Because there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender branches will not cease.

• 1 Though its roots grow old in the earth, and its stump dies in the ground,

• 1 yet at the scent of water it will bud, and sprout out branches like a plant.

• 10 But man dies and wastes away; yes, man gives up the spirit, and where is he?

• 1 As the waters disappear from the sea, and rivers become desolate and dry up,

• 1 so man lies down and does not rise. Until the heavens are no longer there, they will not awake nor be elevated out of their sleep.

• 1 Oh, that You would hide me in the grave, that You would hide me until your wrath is past, that You would appoint me a set time, and remember me!

• 1 If a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, until my change comes.

• 1 You will call, and I will answer You; You will long for the work of Your hands.

• 1 Because now You number my steps, do You not watch over my sin?

• 1 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and You cover over my iniquity.

• 1 And as a falling mountain crumbles away, and the rock moves out of its position;

• 1 the waters erode the stones away, You wash away the things that grow out of the dust of the earth, and You destroy the hope of man.

• 1 You prevail forever against him, and he passes on; You change his countenance, and send him away.

• 21 His sons come to honor, and he does not know it; and they are brought low, but he does not notice it concerning them.

• 22 Nevertheless his flesh upon him will have pain, and his soul within him will mourn.
