He who smashes in pieces has come up before your face. Guard the fortification! Watch the road! Make your loins strong! Fortify your power mightily.
Because, the Lord has turned away excellence of Jacob like the excellence of Israel, because, the emptiers have emptied them out and ruined their vine branches.
The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet. The chariots will be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees will be greatly shaken.
The chariots will rage in the streets, they will jostle one against another in the broad roads; they seem like torches, they run like lightning.
He will remember his worthy ones; they will stumble in their walk; they will rush to its wall, and the defense will be prepared.
The gates of the rivers will be opened, and the palace will be dissolved.
And Huzzab will be led away captive, she will be brought up; and her maidservants will lead her as with the voice of doves, hitting on their breasts.
But Nineveh is historically like a pool of water, yet they flee away. “Stand! Stand!” they shall cry; but none will look back.
Take to yourself the spoil of silver! Take the spoil of gold! Because, there is no end of stock and glory out of the valuable furnishings.
She is empty, void, and waste! And the heart melts, and the knees knock together; and great pain is in all their loins, and all their faces are becoming black.
Where is the dwelling of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion, even the old lion walked, and the lions cubs, and no one made them afraid?
The lion tore in pieces enough for his cubs, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his caves with prey, and his dens with carcasses.
“Behold, I am against you says the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions; and I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers will no longer be heard.”
