From Middle English altogeder, altogedere, equivalent to al- (“all”) + together. Cognate with Scots altogether (“altogether”). Compare also Old English eallġeador (“altogether”), West Frisian allegearre (“altogether”). More at together.
The word Altogether appears 29 times in the King James Version.
