John 5:18
From Textus Receptus
(Textus Receptus, Theodore Beza, 1598)
- John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

Commentary
An Omission in the King James?
“His” is perfectly justified, because just as in Romans 8:32, it is relating to a person who may be said to belong to one, with primacy above any others. It was not as if Jesus had two fathers.
Greens LITV has: Because of this, therefore, the Jews lusted the more to kill Him, for not only did He break the sabbath, but also called God His own Father, making Himself equal to God.
LITV but also called God His own Father, KJV but said also, that God was his father,
Is there really any difference?
