Corrupted Manuscripts

This verse is corrupted in the following manuscripts:

Aleph - Sinaiticus - Fourth century

B - Vaticanus - Fourth century

C - Ephraemi Rescriptus - Fifth century

Affected Teachings

Here is another attack on the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. His name “Jesus” has been omitted from the three basic corrupted manuscripts and no reason is given for this omission. In fact, there is nothing mentioned as to why his name was omitted. This omission attempts to detach the Lord Jesus Christ from His divine title as “Son of God.” This verse is one of approximately 125 verses in the New Testament in which the modern versions omit some part of His divine title. Please see the following study: www.scionofzion.com/niv_hates.htm

The devils knew exactly who He was since they were up in Heaven with Him before the rebellion of Satan and their expulsion from heaven. This is why they specifically mentioned Him by name and they also knew that they were heading for eternal judgment and that is why they questioned Him on that subject.
