Superioribus deibus, Christiane, lećtor, Nouum Domini nostri I E S V C H R I S T I Testamentum, qua, diƈtante Spiritu sanƈto, scriptũ fuit lingua, cum vetustissimis sedecim scriptis exemplaribus quanta maxima potuimus cura & diligẽtia collatum, minore forma, minutioribúsque Regiis charaƈteribus tibi excudimus. Idem nunc, iterũ & tertiò cum iisdem collatũ, maioribus verò etiam Regiis typis excusum tibi offerimus: iis præfixis, (nequid desyderes) insertísve, aut in calce positis, quæ vsquã in scriptis aut excusis legũtur codicibus: quæ omnia, angusta alterius forma capere non potuerat. Ad hæc, in margine interiori varias codicũ leƈtiones addidimus: quarũ vnicuique, numeri Græci nota subiũƈta est, quæ nomen exmplaris, vndesumpta est, indicet: aut exemplariũ nomina, quũ plures sunt numeri. Iis nanque placuit, primo, secundo, ad sextũdecimum vsq; nomina imponere: vt primo, Complutensem editionẽ intelligas, quæ olim ad antiquissima exẽplaria fuit excusa: cui certè cum nostris mirus erat in plurimis consensus. Secundo, exemplar vetustissimum, in Italia ab amicis callatũ. Tertio, quarto, quinto, sexto, septimo, oƈtauo, decimo & quintodecimo, ea quæ ex bibliotheca Regis habuimus. Cætera sunt ea quæ vndiq; corrogare licuit. Cuius quidem vetustiorũ codicum collationis, doƈtissimos Hebræorum authores habemus: quos post recuƈtũ è Babylonia populum Dei, quũ sacros Veteris testamenti libros diserepare verbis aliquando, aut apicibus etiam comperissent, diuersam in margine leƈtionem adnotasse testãtur hodie libri ad exmplaria scripta excusi. Capitum præterea iuxta Græcos diuisionem, in interiori margine numeris Græcis notauimus, quibus respondent in Euangeliis χεφογομα in superiore & inferiore paginarũ parte: in Epistolis verò, ipsa χεφογομα singulis Epistolis præfixa. Latinorũ autem capita numeris & ipsa Græcis in margine exteriori significauimus: ipsósque Latinos sequuti, breuiora capita in quatuor, lõgiora in septem partes distribuimus: literis alphateticis maiusculis partes illas in eodẽ margine signantes. vbi etiã & Latinorũ more notauimus locũ vel ex Euãgelista aliquo, vel ex Apostolicis scriptis, qui cũ præsenti loco aut idem sit prorsus, aut non parũ absimilis: aut qui certè cum ipso collatus, lucem aliquã afferre posse videatur: adieƈta litera maiuscula quæ capitis eam partẽ indicet in qua quæri locus ille debeat. Locos ex Veteritestamẽto aut ad verbũ, aut eodem sensu citatos, magna cura signauimus. Nectamẽomisimus Eusebii Cæsariensis canones, sed iis quoq; in interiori margine locũ dedimus, vt Græcis etiam satissieret. Sed ne numerũ quidem σίχων, præsertim quũ is in nostris propè omnibus codicibus inueniretur, in calce cuiusque Euangelii & Epistolæ. quam rationé recensendi σίχων, & apud nonnullos prophanos scriptores videre est. Hæc verò omnia vt te alacriorẽ ad sacrosanćti Noui testamenti Seruatoris nostri Deilećtionẽ redderemus, nobis effe suscepta existimato.
