+ | :τῶν ἐθνῶν. So A, B, 2, 4, 6, al., Compl., Plant., Genev., Beng., Lach., Tisch. The variation τ. αἰώνων (cf. 1 Timothy 1:17) occurs in C, א1, 18, Vulg. (var.: caelorum) [adopted by W. and H.]. The rec. τ. ἁγίων is almost without any testimony.

+ | :At Revelation 15:3, Old Latin witnesses with gentium derive from ἐθνῶν (‘peoples’), while the Vulgate’s saeculorum represents αἰώνων (‘generations’). The reading ἁγίων (‘saints’) in the Textus Receptus appears once again to have Latin roots, stemming from a misreading of the abbreviation s(ae)c(u)lorum as s(an)ctorum (compare sc̅ orum in VL 95).[https://academic.oup.com/book/12425/chapter/162895408]

+ | James says on page 109 that: "King of saints" should be either "King of the AGES (NIV) or "King of THE NATIONS" (NASB), the TR's reading again lacks Greek manuscript support."[https://books.google.com.au/books?id=q7H_2eQC91kC&pg=PA109&lpg=PA109&dq=%22Revelation+15:3%22+textus+receptus&source=bl&ots=5TflubXUyg&sig=ACfU3U17_4mMqg47GcMgm9FQFb7GgXNE_g&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiopOCZh5uCAxW5lFYBHYPRBBkQ6AF6BQicAhAD#v=onepage&q=%22Revelation%2015%3A3%22%20textus%20receptus&f=false]

+ | Amazingly in his book James White recommends three different versions as being "reliable and trustworthy" which are the NASB, the NIV and the NKJV, yet all three of these "reliable versions" differ from each other in many places including in Revelation 15:3, but he dislikes this reading in the NKJV that he recommended in his book.
+ | |||
+ | James White in his interview on Apologia TV agreed with the commentator when he said "all those readings are correct." Although White would most probably dismiss this claim if queried, that he meant, theologically correct, the theme of the book [[King James Only Controversy]] shows that the statement is consistent with his view that his chosen bibles are valid, and consistent with the modern version mantra that no doctrines are affected.

+ | Church Fathers quoting “King of saints”
+ | |||
+ | Victorinus-Pettau around the year [[270 AD]] wrote commentaries on the book of Revelation as well as Genesis, Exodus, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Matthew and other books of the Bible. His works were later anathematized by Pope Gelasius 1. The only surviving work of his it this commentary on Revelation and according to the UBS's own notes he quoted the verse as it stands in the TR that underlies the KJV and all other Reformation bibles.
+ | |||
+ | Tyconius around [[370 AD]] wrote a commentary on the book of Revelation and he quotes the verse as it stands in the TR/KJV.
+ | |||
+ | Apringius wrote another commentary on the book of Revelation in the 6th century and it says the same thing as the TR/KJV.
+ | |||
+ | Cassiodorus a Roman statesman and writer who around 460 to 485 established a library of Greek and Latin texts wrote a commentary on the book of Psalms, and he makes reference to Revelation 15:3 and quotes it as it stands in the TR/KJV.
+ | |||
+ | Westcott and Hort originally went with “king of the ages” ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν αἰώνων•, but later on the UBS text changed this to “king of the nations” ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν ἐθνῶν. Versions following this reading are the NASB, NRSV, ESV, Jerusalem bible, and Holman Standard. However, versions like the Revised Version, the American Standard Version, RSV, Douay, and the NIV 1984 all read: “king of the ages”. Because the Vaticanus mss. for Revelation has been lost, modern scholarship has had to rely upon Sinaiticus which originally read “ages” but that reading was changed by a latter scribe to read “nations” and then later another scribe changed it back to “ages”.
+ | |||
+ | The reading of “nations” is found in manuscript A (Alexandrinus) but C reads “ages”.
+ | |||
+ | The RV (1885), and ASV (1901) read “king of the ages”, but then the revision NASB changed this to “king of nations”. The RSV read “ages” but the revisions of the RSV now read “nations”. The Douay read “ages” but the other Catholic revision now says “nations”. The NIV 1984 edition also says “ages”, but the 2011 revision of the NIV and the TNIV of 2005 both say “king of the nations”.

+ | :“The reading of the Textus Receptus (ἁγίων [hagiōn]), which has only the slenderest support in Greek witnesses (296 2049, neither of which was available when the Textus Receptus was formed), appears to have arisen from confusion of the Latin compendia for sanctorum (sctorum) and saeculorum (sclorum [=αἰώνων [aiōnōn]]; ‘saint’ is also read by several Latin writers, including Victorinus-Pettau, Tyconius, Apringius, and Cassiodorus.”—Bruce M. Metzger, A Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament (Stuttgart, Germany: Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft, 1994), Rev. 15:3.

Commentary
King of the saints
Meyer's NT Commentary
- τῶν ἐθνῶν.
H. A. G. Houghton
- At Revelation 15:3, Old Latin witnesses with gentium derive from ἐθνῶν (‘peoples’), while the Vulgate’s saeculorum represents αἰώνων (‘generations’). The reading ἁγίων (‘saints’) in the Textus Receptus appears once again to have Latin roots, stemming from a misreading of the abbreviation s(ae)c(u)lorum as s(an)ctorum (compare sc̅ orum in VL 95).[3]

James White
James says on page 109 that: "King of saints" should be either "King of the AGES (NIV) or "King of THE NATIONS" (NASB), the TR's reading again lacks Greek manuscript support."[4]
Amazingly in his book James White recommends three different versions as being "reliable and trustworthy" which are the NASB, the NIV and the NKJV, yet all three of these "reliable versions" differ from each other in many places including in Revelation 15:3, but he dislikes this reading in the NKJV that he recommended in his book.
James White in his interview on Apologia TV agreed with the commentator when he said "all those readings are correct." Although White would most probably dismiss this claim if queried, that he meant, theologically correct, the theme of the book King James Only Controversy shows that the statement is consistent with his view that his chosen bibles are valid, and consistent with the modern version mantra that no doctrines are affected.

“King of saints,” “King of the nations,” or “King of the ages?”
- King of saints – KJV, PKJV, NKJV,
- King of the nations – NASB,
- King of the ages – NIV,
Church Fathers quoting “King of saints”
Victorinus-Pettau around the year 270 AD wrote commentaries on the book of Revelation as well as Genesis, Exodus, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Matthew and other books of the Bible. His works were later anathematized by Pope Gelasius 1. The only surviving work of his it this commentary on Revelation and according to the UBS's own notes he quoted the verse as it stands in the TR that underlies the KJV and all other Reformation bibles.
Tyconius around 370 AD wrote a commentary on the book of Revelation and he quotes the verse as it stands in the TR/KJV.
Apringius wrote another commentary on the book of Revelation in the 6th century and it says the same thing as the TR/KJV.
Cassiodorus a Roman statesman and writer who around 460 to 485 established a library of Greek and Latin texts wrote a commentary on the book of Psalms, and he makes reference to Revelation 15:3 and quotes it as it stands in the TR/KJV.
Westcott and Hort originally went with “king of the ages” ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν αἰώνων•, but later on the UBS text changed this to “king of the nations” ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν ἐθνῶν.
The reading of “nations” is found in manuscript A (Alexandrinus) but C reads “ages”.
The RV (1885), and ASV (1901) read “king of the ages”, but then the revision NASB changed this to “king of nations”.

Metzger
- “The reading of the Textus Receptus (ἁγίων [hagiōn]), which has only the slenderest support in Greek witnesses (296 2049, neither of which was available when the Textus Receptus was formed), appears to have arisen from confusion of the Latin compendia for sanctorum (sctorum) and saeculorum (sclorum [=αἰώνων [aiōnōn]]; ‘saint’ is also read by several Latin writers, including Victorinus-Pettau, Tyconius, Apringius, and Cassiodorus.”—Bruce M. Metzger, A Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament (Stuttgart, Germany: Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft, 1994), Rev. 15:3.
